Consumed Systems

This project was developed in collaboration with Anti-Slavery International for an Easter awareness campaign addressing modern slavery in the cocoa industry.

Rather than depicting explicit suffering or relying on stereotypical imagery, the work adopts a conceptual and symbolic approach to reveal the hidden systems behind everyday consumption. Using chocolate as a familiar and culturally loaded object, the illustrations expose the often-invisible networks of exploitation, labour, and environmental harm embedded within global supply chains.

The project aims to shift the viewer’s perspective—from passive consumption to critical awareness—by visualising what is usually concealed beneath the surface.

Bitter Inside

A chocolate form is opened to reveal the hidden realities of the cocoa supply chain—labour exploitation, environmental damage, and systemic inequality. The familiar sweetness becomes a surface that conceals a much more complex and unsettling truth.
